A double bill of heavily flavoured Californian psychedelic rock
Kent’s finest Syd Arthur and from Los Angeles Morgan Delt.

In the California hills

This band need very little introduction, having played here in Ramsgate to a rapturous sold out audience back in May 2014. They are also more importantly, men of Kent themselves, having made their first music forays in the Canterbury DIY Scene.

Apricity, their new release from 2017, was written in part among the forested parks on the edge of Los Angeles, and has taken their swirling psychedelic rock to a new level.

A sharpened sound with bigger ideas has freshly invigorated their take on the psych-pop, with trance filled guitar grooves. They are now a band bold enough to tour with the likes of White Denim and The Strokes.

By the California coast

Signed to Sub Pop, California’s Morgan Delt are an invocation of classic west coast psychedelia – they feel like a continuous sunrise, never concealing their influences yet perfectly putting its songs through a gauzy lens that blurs and obscures.

The new 10-song LP performed entirely by Delt and recorded in his Topanga Canyon studio is a home-fi construction reflecting the character of flower power fantasy of 1967.

It’s doused in echo and haze with slow chords lap in like Pacific waves, flanked by gentle whispers of multi-tracked, cooing vox, phased guitars and fuzz.
